Karen Fisher

Dog Groomer, Business Coach & Consultant, Speaker & Mentor

BELIEF #1

You don't have to hustle or chase clients to be a successful dog groomer.

- Learn to attract them & they stay for life!!

BELIEF #2

Financial knowledge & independence for the women of our industry should be a given.

BELIEF #3

The obsession & fever around pricing in our industry is distracting.

Pricing is an ingredient to a successful Dog Grooming Business.

NOT the recipe.

HI, I'M KAREN,

A partner, mother, dog groomer, maths geek and business coach. But they're just titles!

Who am I really?

I'm someone who wants more for the dog grooming industry.

Why?

Because I AM a dog groomer and I know the frustrations many of you face...

...the feeling of being walked all over by clients, the disrespect of no-shows, the sadness of clipping off a matted coat yet the owner won't listen and learn. The resentment that builds when you work SO HARD, but still don't earn enough to reflect it?

Hitting a nerve yet?

I'm someone who can see a future where groomers are seen as skilled professionals, not by the minority but by the general public.

I can see a future where we're listened to! Respected! And can demand abundant salaries from our businesses that reflect our skills...!

I can see a future where matted dogs are a rarity because we as an industry have learned how to educate owners so they actually listen!

I can see a future where groomers have the business knowledge to maintain control AND enjoyment in their roles.

I'm on a mission to build that future!

One to One Business Consultancy for Dog Groomers

"In your corner"

12 months of focused, 1:1 support for the individual issues in your dog grooming business.

Available to UK-based businesses only, so the support stays as actionable as possible.

You'll get 5 one-to-one Zoom sessions over the year, regular email check-ins for accountability, and full access to The Dog Grooming Business Academy membership and Dog Groomers' Business Engine course — so every action plan is as simple as possible to implement.

How the "In your Corner" package works

Our initial Zoom call is about where you are now and where you want to be. We'll look at your goals — and if they're not clear yet, that's fine; we'll work together to clarify what you actually want from your business.

All calls are confidential, and recordings are only ever shared between the two of us.

In the four sessions that follow, we'll build actionable plans for each quarter, backed by regular email or WhatsApp check-ins so you always feel supported.

Together we'll build or audit your online presence, review your paperwork and policies (and how well they're being used), get clear on your finances, and look honestly at your customer experience — including how your customers treat you. Karen will teach you the strategies, then help you fit them into a business model that suits you and your lifestyle, because it's okay for all of us to want different things.

Within the first few months, you'll feel clearer and more empowered about running your business for both profit and enjoyment. Over the months that follow, we'll systemise and simplify everything you've built, so you're never "winging it" again..  just a confident, well-run grooming business for years to come.

What can I help you with

My coaching and consultancy is practical, honest, and built on 17 years of real grooming experience, combined with degree-level business studies and ICF business coach training.

Areas of support include (but aren't limited to):

  • Marketing audits that make sense — A clear review of your social media and website, with realistic improvements you can actually maintain. I've grown a combined following of 16k+ organically, ( no followers bought) so I know what genuinely connects to an audience (not a bot).
  • Client communication, systems & policies — From educating clients properly to tightening boundaries and processes that protect your time and energy. Because only another groomer really gets why a 7F is necessary, or the frustration of a no-show.
  • Imposter syndrome & confidence — Support to help you back yourself, charge appropriately, and stop second-guessing decisions you already know are right.
  • Pricing & finances (without the overwhelm) — Clear, practical, judgement-free conversations about pricing, money, and sustainability.
  • Feeling back in control — Actionable next steps aligned to your goals, so you leave every session knowing exactly what to focus on.
  • Growing or refining your client list — Attracting the right clients for your salon, not just more of the wrong ones.

Is this right for you?

These sessions are ideal if you:

  • Feel busy, but not always in control
  • Find the self-study side of the membership isn't enough — you need deeper, individualised support and accountability
  • Want clearer systems, boundaries, and pricing
  • Are ready to treat your grooming business like the professional service it is
  • Want advice from someone who's truly walked in your shoes

Due to the bespoke and individualised nature of the "In Your Corner" consultancy and coaching package, spaces are limited. (Our next availability to start a new "In your Corner" student is Sept 2026).

The "In Your Corner" package with one to one support from Karen Fisher, is priced at £1600 which can be paid in full or in 4 monthly instalments.

MY STORY

Like many others, I chose to become a dog groomer because I loved being with dogs. Their energy, their love, their company, plus the thought of self-employment and the promise of independence & control that implied...(hmm).

So aged 28, in 2009, I left my career in the Aviation Industry and trained to become a groomer.

I went through the same rites of passage that many new groomers still experience today - the dodgy grooms, the price chasing flaky clients, the crippling imposter syndrome..

But slowly I grew a fully booked dog grooming business and expanded with regards to staff and premises in a matter of 3 years (whilst welcoming my first child along the way).

Then the inevitable happened. I burned out!!!

Over the years, I had grown my business to a stage where I simply could no longer cope with it's demands. From the grooming to the cleaning to the admin to marketing... it was all too much, especially as a new mum with family commitments to juggle.

My passion for my business and grooming was dwindling fast! The tasks to get it back on track seemed overwhelming and I wasn't sure where to start. Customers frustrated me and I began to look for the exit!!

So, I enrolled on a Mathematics degree with the Open University with a view to leaving grooming & becoming a teacher. However, the unexpected happened! My studies didn't help me find a path out of grooming. They helped me see reasons to stay!

I learned about pricing structures and business finance, I swapped pure math modules for business ones and gradually educated myself in ways to improve my grooming business.

When normality resumed after 2020, and my dog grooming business could resume full time, things were very different!

My studies meant I now ran my dog grooming business with full clarity and control. I had the financial knowledge to draw a healthy salary from my grooming business, (without the need to constantly sell add-ons), I upheld boundaries and policies with my clients with warmth and professionalism and most importantly I regained my love of grooming.

The Dog Groomers Business Engine course (the signature transformation of The Dog Grooming Business Academy) is an embodiment of the changes I made and the vehicle I now use to educate and support other female groomers to gain the success and balance I created for myself.

Since then, I have trained to be a coach, taken further education in business and marketing, spoken at industry events such as MasterGroomPet Pro Expo, & The Great British Grooming Show, taught students at grooming colleges about the business of dog grooming and welcomed over 200 women inside the doors of The Dog Grooming Business Academy (formerly called The Grooming Goddess Academy) membership in its first year of trading alone. (18 months in and that number has grown considerably)

My seasonal podcast "The Dog Groomers' 2026 Reset" was highly acclaimed by Colin Taylor and the Academy has featured in Total Grooming Magazine several times with front covers in June 2025 and again in April 2026!

The first half of 2026 has been beyond our wildest expectations, with a Liz Paul Award nomination, seminars at various events, our April front cover of Total Grooming Magazine, and also the ability to book high end guest speakers to educate inside the Academy such as Jennifer Bishop Jenkins, Julie Harris, Martina Waterman and more.
