Most dog owners don’t willingly ignore our advice.

In an ideal world, responsible breeders would ensure that all puppy owners realise the importance of grooming familiarisation and stop pushing the narrative that puppies don’t need a groomer until they’re six months or older. 

But as we know, that doesn’t always happen and we as groomers are left with adolescent or adult dogs, terrified of grooming.

The lack of gradual introduction and familiarisation means we are often faced with owners expecting us to use sharp scissors and clippers on an almost fully grown dog that can’t even stand up on a table without fear due to the lack of acclimatisation. 

It’s like putting a toddler on a bike and then asking him to ride in The Tour de France next week.
