The Power Of Pride!
Mar 06, 2026
“She’s getting a bit full of herself!”.
How many times do we hear this about successful women? Those who dare to demonstrate how well they’re doing? Those who post about winning competitions, the new car they can afford, or how their business is financially successful?
In the words of Taylor Swift;
“Did you girl-boss too close to the sun?”
And I don't know about you, but I'm tired of treading the fine line of how we’re meant to present ourselves.
Everyone loves an underdog; the groomer with her small business struggling to get from month to month. The one driving round in the battered Ford Fiesta.
“She’s so nice, she tries so hard, I’m doing her a favour by using her as my groomer”
But hang on a minute..
What if that groomer suddenly dares to buy a new BMW and park it on the drive? What if she tells you she’s closed next week because she’s going to Florida on holiday? What if she demonstrates that her hard work is actually paying off and she’s not afraid to reap the rewards?
What do customers do then?
They raise their eyebrows at our price increase! I mean do we really need to? How dare we!
And so we shrink ourselves, we play the part of the struggling underdog to fit in with the impression our customers are comfortable with.
Even worse, we often don’t just play the role on the outside, we step into the damn shoes on the inside too and limit our money mindset. We halt the potential of ourselves and our businesses to stay in the safe zone. Don’t increase those prices, don’t demand that “No show” fee.
Don’t claim what's yours.
Because we don’t want to hear those words do we?
‘Who does she think she is?”
“She’s getting a bit full of herself”
Well. I’m here to say: I’m done with that BS!
The customers who see our success as lucky or unworthy? The ones who prefer to assume that hubby buys everything?
The ones who literally judge us because we did indeed, “Girl boss too close to the sun”?
We’re not here to fit into their box of what a dog grooming business should look like.
Those customers are often the ones who don’t see our industry as one worthy of professional respect.
They’re often the ones who think their time is more valuable than ours: the ones who cancel or mess us around at the last minute.
And it turns into a vicious cycle - we fit into their perception to be liked & to keep them and in turn they continue with that perception: the underdog. The one where they have the upperhand.
So ladies, as it’s International Women's Day, this Sunday, as I'm writing this, I’m here to say, STOP!
BE FULL OF YOURSELVES!!
Be full of your own potential. Be full of your own ability and skills. Be full of the right to build the business you want. Be full of the right to claim what is yours!
No more squeezing into boxes designed by someone else, simply to be liked!
It's limiting you!
We don’t need to be arrogant, but we can be proud of our success.
And the best part is, our ideal customers will actually respect us more.
Our ideal customers aren’t threatened by success, they’re attracted by it.
The Grooming Goddess Academy membership is full of over 200 female dog groomers doing exactly that; unapologetically building or re-aligning businesses to suit them!
They’re not doing it by being rude or disrespectful to customers, they’re not doing it by adopting hustle culture or constantly chasing the next client.
They’re doing it strategically, one move at a time.
Slowly but surely showcasing themselves and their business as worthy of respect and worthy of good money.
In celebration of International Women’s Day, the doors are open to new Monthly AND Annual members for 48 hours this weekend. (9pm GMT Fri 6th March 2026- 9pm GMT Sun 8th March 2026).
